*SBA Disaster Assistance Update: Nationwide Economic Injury Disaster Loans COVID-19, March 3

COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster loans for West Virginia businesses are being serviced by the Birmingham Disaster Loan Servicing Center.  Below is a list of emails for that Center.

If you want immediate information about your COVID-19 EIDL loan account, we suggest you set up an account in the Borrower CAFS Account Enrollment & Access (sba.gov) portal.  Remember you’ll have to sign up using your SSN that is associated with the loan.  This portal should keep you up-to-date on this and any other SBA-backed loans.

Because of the sheer volume of loans, you will not receive an actual loan statement, with payment amount, until one month prior to that first payment due date.  That’s why we say sign up for CAFS when your loan is approved.  If you need a final payoff amount, you’ll need to contact the Birmingham Disaster Loan Servicing Center.

Did you know? If you have an EIDL loan, the sale of a business without SBA’s prior written consent is technically a default of the loan agreement.

If you default, your loan will be transferred to the National Disaster Loan Resolution Center.

That said, you don’t need prior approval if you’re paying off the EIDL loan with the sale proceeds.  You’ll need to contact the Servicing Center for a payoff statement.

Expanding Federal Contracting Opportunities

Government contracting

In collaboration with the White House and Office of Management and Budget, SBA is advocating for major reforms to level the playing field for all contracting entrepreneurs through a more equitable and transparent federal procurement system and buying strategy. Among the key policy modifications recommended and advocated for by the SBA are changes to the government’s approach that encouraged 24 federal agencies to bundle contracts. Over the last five years, this system, called Category Management, has favored major corporations and made many contracts out of reach for small businesses, which has a far-reaching impact on the U.S. economy.

SBA’s Office of Advocacy is holding a virtual roundtable on March 23, 2022, to hear directly from small businesses about their views on access to and use of digital tools.

The purpose of the listening sessions with SMEs and underserved communities is to develop recommendations for U.S. and EU policymakers to implement, including under the TTC, that will help accelerate SME access to and the uptake of digital technologies.

The virtual meeting is 1 pm – 2 pm on March 23, 2022, on the Microsoft Teams platform.

Please RSVP to Rosalyn.Steward@sba.gov. A meeting link will be provided to you when you RSVP.
