Announcement: Small Business Week Winners

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) North Florida District Director,                J. Malcolm Richards is proud to announce the 2022 Small Business Week winners for the North Florida territory.

“Our small businesses have been hurting for the last couple of years due to the pandemic, and some of them had to close their doors, but many thrived due to their resourcefulness and dedication. We celebrate all the hard-working small business owners and congratulate our district winners on their respective titles.  We also thank and congratulate the advocates that have helped our small businesses during a very difficult time,” stated District Director Richards.

*SBA Florida local awards are judged at the district and state levels. State-wide winners have won an additional recognition.

If you’re in business or looking to start, please join SBA and our guest speakers as we provide key information on resources available to you. Along with SBA you will hear from one of our resource partners, as we share valuable information on the programs and services that’s available to support your small businesses. Additionally, you will also hear from our guest speaker with Wealth Watchers, as they discuss information to help you better understand how your credit will play a role in your business future or existing small business. Hurricane Season – Preparing Your Business for Time of Disaster

Planning what to do in case of a disaster is an important part of being prepared. This is true for the safety of your family as well as that of your business. Disasters can take many forms and the financial cost of rebuilding after a disaster can be overwhelming. If you’re prepared for emergencies, you’ll be in a better position to recover and continue personal and business operations should disaster strike. With hurricane season starting on June 1st in Florida, in this workshop you will learn: • SBA’s mission at time of declared disasters • Why it’s important to be prepared • What to consider in your action plan • SBA and state disaster assistance programs • How and where to find assistance

Virtual Hour with SBA

Please join the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) North Florida District Office (NFDO) as we host our monthly Virtual Hour, which is a live call that will provide the latest information on SBA programs and services. We will also provide additional information on resources that’s also available to help future aspiring entrepreneurs, or small business owners seeking to start, purchase, grow or recover. During the call the participants will have access to the NFDO team members, who can speak to you about business mentoring, government contracting, business loans (Access to Capital) veteran, women’s business resources, and other SBA initiatives. Each month the Virtual Hour will have a subject matter expert who will also share key information and will be available answer questions and/or concerns during the call. NFDO/PTAC 8(a) Recruitment Tour Drive

The SBA’s 8(a) Business Development (BD) Program is designed to help small, disadvantaged businesses that are socially and economically disadvantaged compete in the federal marketplace. Join the NFDO and PTAC/Government Contracting Specialists to engage and learn more about developmental assistance for your firm. BENEFITS: • Sole-source contracts – up to $4.5 million for goods and services and $7 million for manufacturing • Specialized business training, marketing assistance, contracting opportunities, counseling and high-level executive development • 8(a) businesses can participate in the SBA’s All Small Mentor Protégé Program which helps new 8(a) companies learn the ropes from other experienced businesses.
