Do Business With Private Sector & Federal Government Workshop August 2

cweThe Center for Women and Enterprise, also known as the Vermont Women’s Business Center, is hosting a Doing Business with the Private Sector & Federal Government workshop from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 2 at the CWE, 431 Pine Street, Suite 101, in Burlington.

The U.S. government is the world's largest buyer of products and services. Federal agencies have a statutory goal of awarding 5 percent of federal contracting dollars to certified women-owned businesses. Many private corporations also have spending goals for women-owned businesses. A panel of contracting professionals will explain where to look for government & private sector opportunities, what government agencies and corporations look for and how they work, the process for getting certified to secure contracts, and the difference between certain certifications, and how you can leverage them to grow a business.

SBA "Ignite tour" Blazes Across the Country!

SBA AdministratorAdministrator Linda McMahon, the head of the U.S. Small Business Administration, recently announced the SBA Ignite Tour—a national outreach campaign aimed at fueling small businesses with tools and resources to grow their companies and create more American jobs. McMahon will tour more than 60 cities in two years.

Throughout the tour McMahon will be listening to entrepreneurs, small business owners and community leaders about tax reform, regulation and access to capital; educating small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs about SBA products and services that can help them succeed; advocating for small business and being the VOICE of small business in Washington, D.C.; and encouraging small businesses to continue driving economic growth by creating jobs and helping the economy thrive.

‘The mission of the SBA is to help small businesses grow, create jobs and help our economy thrive. Over the next two years, I will literally be on the move,” McMahon said.  “I want to get to know small business owners and entrepreneurs across America and learn about the obstacles they face while growing a business. I also want to encourage entrepreneurs to tap into SBA resources for start-up and growth solutions.”  The Ignite Tour launched Salt Lake City on June 21. Additional cities this summer include: Pittsburgh, Puerto Rico, Seattle, Portland, Anchorage, Detroit, Milwaukee.  Please join the conversation at #SBAIgniteTour.

It can be used for such things as working capital, new hires, furniture, inventory, supplies, equipment and/or machinery. CT Lender of the Quarter Award

3rd Quarter 2017 - Farmington Bank SBA is pleased to present the Lender of the Quarter Award, for the 3rd Quarter of Fiscal Year 2017, to Farmington Bank. In recognition of their excellent SBA activity for the quarter. During the 3rd quarter (5-1-2017 – 6-30-2017) Farmington Bank had 13 SBA loan approvals, for a total of 37 loans for the fiscal year. At this point last year, Farmington Bank had 23 loan approvals. Currently, Farmington Bank is Connecticut SBA’s 4th most active lender. Congratulations to Farmington Bank!

Recent SBA Lending Activity

A comparison of lending through months ending June 2016/2017:  7(a) lending is down by 6 loans or 1%; but up in loans by $11,837,100 or 8%. 504 lending is also up by 12 loans or 32% and also up in dollars approved by $516,000 or 2%.
