Happy Thanksgiving

Special Thanksgiving Message

This year businesses have faced profound challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The SBA has traditionally supported Small Business Saturday, and this year may be more critical than ever before.  By backing our locally-owned small businesses, you support the thousands of jobs they create and the families they sustain.

As you celebrate the holidays this year – whether continuing with annual traditions or connecting virtually with family and friends – the SBA Alaska District family wishes you a safe holiday season and let's show our business heroes our appreciation and shop small!

Let's Go Shopping - Small Business Saturday

Saturday, November 28, 2020 is Small Business Saturday – a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities. This year, we know that small businesses need our support now more than ever as they navigate, retool and pivot from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. Please join the SBA and organizations across the country in supporting your local small businesses by shopping at a small business.

Founded by American Express in 2010 and officially cosponsored by SBA since 2011, Small Business Saturday has become an important part of small businesses’ busiest shopping season. According to the 2019 Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey, 70% of U.S. consumers are aware of Small Business Saturday.

The SBA will be showcasing our partners during this holiday season to support shop small.  Remember to encourage your friends and family to order from your favorite restaurant, pick up gift cards or simply shop in person in accordance with the safety guidelines of your community.

Be Alert About Email Phishing Scams Using “SBA Loan Application” as a Hook

The SBA has received reports of a phishing email addressed to: “Valued SBA Applicant." It’s important to remember that SBA email only comes from accounts ending in “sba.gov.” Also, make sure the application number in the email is correct.
