Happy Thanksgiving to all!

 We are most thankful for our amazing small businesses, our great partners, and our clients across Tennessee. SBA Tennessee District Office Serving Lenders and Small Businesses in Memphis:

Denson Addressed Risk Management Association Meeting and Terrell Discussed the Advantages of Government Contracting with Small Businesses

On November 6, the Memphis Chapter of the Risk Management Association held a membership luncheon at Clark Tower in Memphis. Lisa Denson, Lender Relations Specialist for the SBA Tennessee District Office, addressed the group, which included banks, credit unions and non-bank lenders. The focus of the program was to highlight the benefits of SBA’s programs to financial institutions. Denson outlined how SBA’s programs can be used to reduce risk and expand profits in the bank’s portfolio.

 

Also, in November, Eric Terrell, SBA Memphis Senior Area Manager, presented a deep dive on the SBA 8(a) Business Development Program to Memphis area small businesses at an event hosted by the Tennessee Small Business Development Center at Southwest Tennessee Community College. The 8(a) Program provides small businesses with the ability to compete for set aside and sole-source federal government contracts. This event was a part of the Tennessee District Office's effort to Drive 8(a) participation across the state.

Upcoming Opportunities for Entrepreneurs

Virtual Entrepreneurship Program (VEP)

The LaunchTN VEP is an adult education initiative for entrepreneurs and people interested in entrepreneurial careers in Tennessee.  VEP101 and VEP102 are virtual, self-paced, six-month courses. Each curriculum teaches innovative entrepreneurship in more than 17 hours of video lessons, organized in modules.

SBIR/STTR Workshop with the U.S. Navy: 

Workshop participants will:explore new SBIR guidelines; learn how your ideas or capabilities may qualify for an investment by the U.S. Navy; and meet one-on-one with Naval representatives. This event is hosted by Launch Tennessee.

2020 National Small Business Week will be celebrated May 3-9, 2020. Each year since 1963, the President of the United States has designated a National Small Business Week. The highlight of Small Business Week activities is honoring entrepreneurs across the nation and the presentation of awards at the state and national levels.
