District Director's Message:

Aloha,
Are you opening new markets using your unique competitive advantages? Lucky you live Hawaii! The high demand, highly desirable designations of “Made in Hawaii” – and even “Made in the USA”- add a certain cachet to your products or services.

Going global is not as crazy as you might think since most U.S. exporters have fewer than 20 employees. So, if you’ve ever thought of selling your goods off-island, there are plentiful resources to help you explore the possibility and prepare for that option.

The HI Step Program is a partnership with SBA, DBEDT, and other expert business development organizations. The program can help you research your ideas on exporting, design a practical approach, and introduce you to buyers through trade show participation. The program also assists with some of the associated expenses and more.

The Hawaii SBDC boasts several experienced consultants with specialized skills in the international trade arena.Let them help you with a feasibility study and your marketing plan and the financial proposal that will make it all happen.

SBA provides guaranteed loan programs that tailor to different exporting transactions such as Export Express, Export Working Capital, and the International Trade Loans. These loans have a higher guarantee that can make these loans attractive to our participating lenders.

Don’t be left standing on the runway: Take off on your export journey with SBA! Learn more about going international at https://www.sba.gov/business-guide/grow-your-business/export-products#section-header-17
