SBA NH Visits Durham / Portsmouth Celebrating #SBDC Day with NH SBDC

To Celebrate #SBDCDay

New England Regional Administrator Mike Vlacich and NH District Director Amy Bassett traveled to the University of New Hampshire – Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics in Durham and met with NH SBDC State Director Liz Gray, Paul College Dean Deborah Sands-Merrill and SBDC business advisors.

UNH Faculty and SBDC Advisors at UNH College with RA Vlacich

During the visit they met with St. Paul College faculty and learned about the business programs that NH SBDC is involved with. The NH SBDC partners their clients with the college’s digital audit services and the Center for Business Analytics which assists SBDC clients in cutting-edge research to help them solve complex problems.

SBDC Day in NH

Next  stop was a visit to the country’s oldest family farm dating back to the 1600’s,  Emery Farm in Durham, to learn about the impact of assistance the business received from the SBA and NH SBDC.

The Emery Farm market was stocked with all the essentials and farm fresh foods. We enjoyed lunch at the café and got to sample the house favorite ‘cider donuts’. There is a petting barn, a fruit farm, greenhouse and a vegetable garden. They offer seasonal activities such as blueberry picking and have educational tours for school aged children. Holly Philbrick along with her employees are committed to providing the best quality products sourced as local to Durham, NH as possible.

SBDC Day with Nearview

We traveled to Portsmouth and met with NH SBDC client and owner of Nearview Technologies, an aerial drone survey company specializing in the mapping of natural resources. We learned about the company’s seaweed mapping projects on the coast of Maine and their Phase I SBIR award as well as the process to obtain a Phase II award with the assistance of SBDC advisor Ed Miles.
