Grant & Funding Opportunities for Rural Communities

Date: 2/9/22 Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (MST)
Point of Contact: Tracy Baker (406) 874-6168
Location: Room 106 Miles Community College 2715 Dickinson Street , Miles City MT 59301

Join us February 9th to talk with our partners from the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), USDA, and Commercial Property Assessed Capital Enhancements Program (C-Pace) to discuss the grants and funding they provide for rural communities.
• The DEQ will be discussing Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy Technology 101: Introduction to Small Business & Farm Energy Options, Federal Tax incentives, Alternative Energy Revolving Loan Program, and other programs & funding. Ben Brouwer, Energy Planning Section Supervisor, and Meranda Bass, Energy Resource Professional Planning section.
• C-PACE will be presenting as well with their representative Seth Lutter. C-PACE is a new financing tool in Montana which provides commercial property owners the ability to finance energy efficiency, water conservation, and renewable system improvements at a net zero cost to the business owner. The financing for the improvements comes from local financial lenders and collateral is a tax assessment on the property itself. The improvements have to pay for the debt service so from day one the property owner is seeing the savings on their energy improvements and they pay the loan back on their property taxes twice a year. C-PACE can be used for retrofitting old buildings, for new building construction, and for retroactive projects that had its energy improvements completed in the past three years. Nationally 37 states have C-PACE programs and more than $4 billion in C-PACE financing has been issued. To learn more about C-PACE, you can go to their website here: https://lastbestpace.com/
• In this workshop, the USDA Rural Development Business Development team and Eastern Montana representative, Kasey Watson, will be on site to discuss Federal funding opportunities available to rural small businesses and agricultural producers, with a focus on available funding options for renewable energy/energy efficiency and agriculture production.
