Haleakala National Park (HALE) attracts large crowds to its summit for sunset viewing, resulting in significant traffic congestion, parking challenges, and safety concerns. Concurrently, a construction project is scheduled to begin in August 2025 and continue through April 2026, overlapping with peak visitor seasons. As a result of this construction project, up to 45% of all available parking spaces will be unavailable for the duration of the project.
