The High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) HB-2A POWDER instrument is undergoing an improvement project to upgrade the detector with the Modular Interdigitated Detector Array System (MIDAS). This new detector upgrade will allow for continual coverage of the powder diffraction neutron scattering volume without rotation of the detector, as the current instrument operates.
