5-B191-P-00162-00 Estimating the Manufacturing Advantage of Dry-Coating of Cathodes in a Lithium-Ion Cell Plant
Synopsis

This requirement is for a study to estimate the change in design and cost of a LIB cell plant that uses dry coating of the cathode electrode with respect to the more common wet coated electrodes used today. The data and analysis will be used for three plant sizes rated for 5, 25, and 50 GWh per year capacity plants. This work is expected to provide the Laboratory with a quantitative estimate of the advantages and challenges of using dry coated NMC811 cathode layers over the more common wet coating process.
