New Mexico District Office
This year, we know that small businesses need our support now more than ever as they navigate, retool, and pivot from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. This holiday will look different this year. However, we can still share joy by shopping small and supporting our favorite small businesses all holiday season long.
Small Business Saturday 2020 will be held on November 28, marking the 11th annual Small Business Saturday.
Last year, shoppers came together in full force to support their local communities. Small Business Saturday hit a record high with an estimated $19.6 billion in reported spending.
Celebrated each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Small Business Saturday is a way for consumers to make an impact in their community by supporting independently owned businesses during the holiday season.
2019 Small Business Saturday Highlights:
- An estimated 110 million shoppers, up from 2018.
97% of U.S. consumers who shopped on Small Business Saturday agree that small businesses are essential to their community.
95% of U.S. consumers reported the day makes them want to shop or eat at small, independently owned businesses all year long, not just during the holiday season.
96% of U.S. consumers who shopped on Small Business Saturday agree that shopping at small, independently owned businesses supports their commitment to making purchases that have a positive social, economic, and environmental impact.
Show your support for local businesses by shopping online, purchasing gift cards, curbside pickup, takeout, and delivery on November 28. This weekend could make the difference in deciding to close their doors or set them up for the next few months.
Have a safe and happy holiday season from the SBA New Mexico District Office!
