\nLehigh University SBDC recognized May 4<\/em><\/strong><\/h1>\n

\nThe U.S. Small Business Administration announces Lehigh University Small Business Development Center is the recipient of its 2022 Pennsylvania Small Business Development Center Excellence and Innovation Award.\nMedia are invited to attend<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nLehigh University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) serves the greater Lehigh Valley and was one of the original centers launched over 40 years ago to serve small business clients in Pennsylvania. The program has grown under current director Brett D.\n Smith\u2019s leadership and expanded its outreach to underserved communities and expanded its services in government procurement and international trade. The SBDC\u2019s strengths include helping clients access capital as well as its bilingual export and procurement\n specialists.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cIt\u2019s wonderful to have the privilege to recognize the achievements of our resource partners such as Lehigh University SBDC and leaders like Brett,\u201d said Steve Dixel, SBA Eastern Pennsylvania Director. \u201cUnder Brett\u2019s leadership, the SBDC has taken on innovative\n funding and outreach in their service territory for micro lending. Lehigh SBDC works closely with Pennsylvania\u2019s Partnerships for Regional Economic Performance (PREP), Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and SBA lenders to ensure that small\n business community capital needs are met.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u201cLehigh SBDC provides consulting to businesses that want to start, grow, and prosper.  Because of their excellent reputation, the knowledge of their consultants, and their connections to the banking community, they assist with business plan narratives and projections\n and help clients find financing for their businesses.  Along with the one-on-one counseling, they provide numerous webinars and training on many small business topics,\u201d said Dr. Ernie Post, Director, Pennsylvania Small Business Development Center (PA SBDC)\n Network. \u201cLehigh SBDC is truly an example of how all SBDC centers should be run.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u201cWe are honored to be presented with the SBA\u2019s 2022 Pennsylvania Center of Excellence and Innovation award, and so proud to serve the small businesses in Upper Bucks, Lehigh, northern Montgomery, and Northampton counties,\u201d said Lehigh University SBDC Director\n Brett D. Smith.  \u201cOur team is dedicated to helping small businesses succeed across the region. Last year alone, the SBDC served more than 900 individuals, resulting in 56 new business starts and a record $26.7 million in capital formation for start-up and\n existing businesses. We thank the SBA, our host Lehigh University, and Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (PA DCED) for their support and collaboration. It\u2019s a privilege to be part of the Pennsylvania SBDC Network.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nThe Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) are the only statewide, nationally accredited program that provides high quality one-on-one consulting, training, and information resources to empower new and existing businesses. The SBDC program is\n a public\/private partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and 16 universities and colleges across the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n
