National Hispanic Heritage Month

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15)

Hispanic Heritage Month is a time for us to celebrate the amazing contributions of the American Latino small business community.  We know Latinas are starting businesses at record rates and inspiring others to follow their entrepreneurial dreams.  Our San Francisco Small Business Person of the Year, Lina Mills, CEO and Founder of Creative Ideas Catering, is one such example.

No stranger to adversity, Lina built her business from the ground-up, starting with local catering, moving to corporate catering and now has her own kitchen and market/cafe. She tackled every challenge with determination, from immigrating to the USA, learning a new language, starting a business when she lost her job, and finding new customers when COVID affected her corporate contracts.  A savvy business woman, Lina reached out for assistance and leveraged many SBA resources such as the Renaissance Women’s Business Center and various loan and grant programs including a 504 loan from TMC Community Capital, PPP, and EIDL. Lina is an inspiration and now aspires to give-back and help new entrepreneurs find their path to success.  Learn more
