SBA Encourages Shopping Small on Small Business Saturday
SBA Resource Partner Events in
City Heights and National City
The SBA is encouraging Americans to support local communities by shopping at small businesses on Saturday, November 30. Celebrated each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Small Business Saturday allows consumers to make a tremendous impact in their neighborhoods by supporting local small businesses. Last year, an estimated 104 million consumers nationwide “shopped small” on Small Business Saturday.
This year marks the tenth Small Business Saturday, an annual celebration of America’s small business community. Last year on Small Business Saturday, Americans spent a combined $17.8 billion at independent neighborhood retailers and restaurants.
Below are two Small Business Saturday events presented by SBA resource partners from the San Diego and Imperial Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network that you may wish to attend.
The IRC SBDC presents the City Heights Scavenger Hunt!
Participating businesses are refugee or immigrant-owned and include both well-established shops that have served the community for decades, as well as recently established businesses. A list of clues will lead participants on a self-guided walking tour of 9 markets, shops and restaurants located within less than a mile of each other along University Avenue. Participants are invited to go at their own pace, stopping to shop unique items or enjoy international cuisine for lunch along the way.
